Tuesday, 4/24/18
I made a decision, on Saturday, to take a few days off from training. My run on Saturday was difficult. I couldn't imagine my quad taking me 17 or 18 miles on Sunday. I think if I keep pushing, I'm going to find myself seriously compromised. I'm not running again until Thursday. I'll be concentrate on recovery for the next few days. I'd rather lose 4 days and actually run the marathon, than keep pushing and be out completely. Hopefully, a little rest gets me back on track.
I have been doing my hip exercises faithfully, and juicing every day. I usually don't juice fruits, but pineapples are an excellent anti-inflammatory foods, so I've been juicing a lot of pineapples lately. The juice is green in the pic, because I juiced the peel, too. If you juice the peel of a pineapple, be sure to use some kind of veggie soap to wash the peel. Pineapple peels hold onto bacteria. You can also make a tea out of the peels.

Speed Tuesday, 3/13/2018
Yesterday was a recovery run. I ran 6.2 miles at a super slow pace. I was worn out from Saturday's 13 miler and Sunday's 17 miler.
Today was a speed day. Since I knew that I would be running in the rain, I planned to skip the speed intervals and just run easy. When I got out there, though, it wasn't raining, at first, and the wind wasn't too bad. I decided to see if I could get the speed intervals in before it started to rain. I ran four 1200s with 400 recovery jogs. My paces were good, but, after the intervals, I was ready to be done. I had a long way to go. It was seven more miles in the rain before I got home. As usual, more calories at lunch would have been helpful. I ate a sandwich and an orange before the run. I know that helped. I didn't wear a jacket, but I wasn't too cold. I've run 69.5 miles over the last 7 days. I'm tired. It's a wrap. Rest day here I come!

Yesterday, as far as training goes, was pretty uneventful. I woke up early for 6 recovery miles. I didn’t want to get out of the bed, but the weather forecast called for rain and wind in the afternoon.
For dinner, I tried a new recipe. Deborah Brooks, a fellow Skirt Sports ambassador, posts meatless recipes on Mondays. The one I tried was called Spaghetti Squash Mac and Cheese. I've had a spaghetti squash in the frig for a while, and I wanted to use it before it spoiled. Everyone loved it. I found a new, easy way to cook spaghetti squash.
Today is a speed day. I should have gotten up this morning, but last night I knew I wouldn't. I'm tired of my hands freezing. It will be windy this afternoon, so that will impact my paces, but I'll let you know.
Since I didn't run before work, I made everyone a juice this morning. I don't use a recipe. I put vegetable scraps along with 1/2 apple, 1/2 cucumber and either lime or lemon. Cilantro makes everything taste better, but I don't have cilantro right now. We've been getting a lot of carrots in our vegetable box, so carrots have been the star lately. The juices never taste the same. Some are horrendous and some are pretty good. The bar is pretty low as far as taste. This morning's juice was pretty good, comparatively.

MLK Long Run Monday, 1/15/2018
Yesterday, I ran 5.82 recovery miles. All I remember is that it was slow.
I wouldn't normally run long on a Monday, but since it's a holiday, I ran a long run of 13.5. I didn't fuel particularly well. I had a boiled egg, coffee and a piece of corn bread for breakfast. Right before I left, I drank 4 oz. of water with a scoop of UCAN. I carried 10 oz. of tailwind in a handheld. I was aiming for a pace of 8:55-8:59. I ran non-stop for 8.5. At 8.5, I went to the bathroom, refilled my water bottle and took an endurolyte pill. I stopped a few other times at lights. Each of the times I stopped I milked it for a little more than I actually needed to. I did 13 miles at 8:57 pace.
My pace was pretty even throughout. I stopped my watch at 13 and then did a 1/2 mile recovery. By the time I got home, I was feeling both nauseous and dizzy. I had some milk and whey protein which evened me out.

Garmin 310XT Free to Whoever Wants It, Sunday 1/14/2018
I have a Garmin 310XT with a broken wristband. I have put the watch back together, but it will fall apart again without some attention. Garmin will fix the watch for $99. You can see a pic of the problem in my Jan 3rd post. Honestly, it could probably be fixed with some crazy glue. I am going to keep my new Garmin 235, and I already have a backup watch that works. If anyone would like me to send them the Garmin 310XT, I'll give it to you for free. You would have to pay the cost of shipping and the envelope to put it in. I cannot give you the outlet plug, but I will send the charging cord. For the cost of I would guess not more than $130 (shipping to Garmin & my shipping costs), you could have a good backup watch. The 310XT is functionally pretty much like the 235, but it is bulkier and does not give you some of the stats like VO2max. Leave a comment or contact me if you would like me to send it to you.
I have no desire to run today at all. I just want to get down to watching some football!

My abs have been feeling good lately, but I woke up with pain. I guess yesterday's run was too much. I did my hip and ab exercises today, but I didn't push too much. When I tried to jump rope, I actually hit myself in the eye on the first turn of the rope. It took a few minutes for me to be able to see. My heart wasn't in the jumping after that. I ran around the neighborhood with my husband and discovered that I was really, surprisingly sore. I didn't wear my garmin, but I can tell you it was very slow. I ended with a yoga session and cryotherapy.

7/26/2015 RECOVERY
I warmed up on the TM for a 1/2 mile & did another .6 at a recovery pace. DH and I went to the park and did a 6 mile loop. My 200 mile goal is in sight. It is a good thing, because I am tired of running.

SUN, 7/19/2015 RECAP, RECOVERY, STRETCH
53.4 miles last week is pretty sweet. I am within striking distance of the 200 miles goal.
After this month, I will try to eliminate some of my pit-stops, and make a concerted effort to shorten them when I do take them I will probably have to carry water. Everything is working so well right now, that I don't want to change anything that might jeopardize the 200 miles.
In August, I have to get serious about speedwork--ugh...
I did the slowest recovery run imaginable. 2.59 miles in 27:31 (pace-10:37) followed by Dynamix (P90X3). I skipped lunges and stopped the DVD at side banana.
